  • The team visited the site to understand flow request for design and on the shop and identified inaccuracies in flat pattern drawings as well as AutoCAD manufacturing drawings
  • Team found that the shop also had its own modified versions for regular tables (sheet metal)
  • To standardize the documents and reduce ECOs, CAD drafters converted AutoCAD 2D drawings to SolidWorks 3D models with DFM properties
  • Custom tables for engineering teams with K factor were also created for flat pattern drawings
  • In the later stage, project engineers identified standard and regular items for the manufacturer’s portfolio and implemented DriveWorks for repetitive products to save time
  • Defect tracking process and quality checks were established to test the manufacturing drawings and documents
