The Client is a leading provider of steel fabrication services to construction and mining industries since 1974.
The client was a part of a construction project for a new immigration detention center in New South Wales, Australia. The Centre consisted of several buildings, including an admin building, a health & sports complex, a facilities management building, a community building, an interviews & visit building, and a walkway connecting all these buildings. The structure details received were simple line sketches, with a lot of important details missing, such as steel levels. Further, while working on a close deadline, there were revisions from the architecture and structure teams, all of which had to be incorporated into the structural models for the immigration complex.
A team of three detailers, and a team lead were then sent to New South Wales, where they worked along with the architecture and structural engineering teams. The client’s quality standards for structural detailing were followed on the project, ensuring error-free steel detailing. The team successfully delivered general arrangement drawings, assembly drawings, part drawings, and a Tekla steel model for all the structures in the complex.
Despite all the changes in the design and the structural elements, the detailing done on-site ensured that the fabrication schedule did not suffer any delays, which saved a considerable amount of time and costs, upping their profitability on this project.
